FULTON, Miss. (WTVA) – The City of Fulton is hosting its annual Scare on the Square on Halloween.

The event begins Saturday at 6 p.m. at Playgarden Park and Wiygul Street.

Organizers relocated the festivities after previous years saw long lines and candy shortages due to space limitations.

Activities include carnival games, bounce houses, pumpkin carving and painting, face painting, a costume contest, and candy prizes for all events.

All activities are free, with the exception of a cake walk.

Boy Scout Troop and Pack 32 will host a haunted house at the old grammar school.

Fulton Mayor Emily Quinn said attendance typically reaches about 1,200 people, but officials expect higher turnout this year.

“I’m anxious to see how many come out this year with the new change. It’s still going to be great clean family fun,” Quinn said. “For the teens, we will also have something in this area at the library. The library will be hosting those activities.”

The event concludes at 8 p.m., followed by a screening of “Hocus Pocus” with free popcorn.

With showers and thunderstorms forecast for Saturday evening and night, organizers have designated the Fulton City Gym as an indoor backup location if it rains.
