MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) – Authorities captured a kidnapping suspect out of state on Friday.

David Tyler Jones, 19, of Smithville, was captured in Alabama after taking a vehicle and fleeing Monroe County, the sheriff’s office announced.

An arrest warrant had been issued for Jones on Thursday after evading law enforcement since the weekend with a runaway teen.

The pair avoided being found, even after a wreck on Monday.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office warned Jones over the phone on Wednesday that if the runaway teen were not brought back to her family, he would face a kidnapping charge.

Shortly after the announcement of the warrant on Thursday, the runaway 14-year-old was recovered, law enforcement said.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said that a 30-year-old Lindsey Nicole Young, of the Bethlehem community, has also been arrested in connection with the case.

She has been charged with accessory after the fact and hindering prosecution.
