OKOLONA, Miss. (WTVA) – A former assistant police chief has pleaded guilty to embezzlement.

District Attorney Ben Creekmore said Sherry Hardin entered the plea on Monday after being accused of taking guns from the Okolona Police Department.

Creekmore said Hardin returned the guns and was sentenced to five years of probation.

She was first indicted in March by a Chickasaw County Grand Jury, which said she had failed to turn over guns that the department either owned or had in its possession.
