Woman dies after son allegedly shot her and then himself in Clay County

WEST POINT, Miss. (WTVA) — A woman has died after her son allegedly shot her in Clay County.

Clay County Coroner Alvin Carter Jr. said Christeen Tranchina, 53, died early Tuesday morning at the Tupelo hospital.

Sheriff Eddie Scott said the shooting happened at approximately 7 a.m. on Monday along East Hazelwood Road.

Tranchina’s 33-year-old son allegedly shot her and then himself.

Medics airlifted both. Her son’s current condition is unknown.

The death and incident remain under investigation.
