TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) – Hundreds of eighth-grade students got a hands-on look at their future careers in northeast Mississippi.

The NEMS FORGE Your Path Career Expo brought students together for a day of exploring construction and skilled trades, giving them a chance to see what these industries have to offer.

About 900 eighth-grade students from across Northeast Mississippi gathered outside of the Tupelo Furniture Market for the career expo.

With more than 30 business and industry partners on hand, students got to operate equipment, explore industry technology, and experience different career pathways firsthand.

“I learned by doing, and I think as a whole, students like that. They get in the trucks, they honk the horns, they lay brick, they move that landscape around, and they learn how to cut pipes,” said Angie Davis, the Chapter Director for FORGE Northeast Mississippi

The inaugural NEMS FORGE Your Path Career Expo was held for eighth-grade students across Northeast Mississippi.
