Man indicted on capital murder charges in triple homicide that killed 5-year-old
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - A grand jury indicted a man on multiple capital murder charges in connection to a triple homicide involving a 5-year-old boy in July 2024.
According to past reporting, Birmingham Police responded to a call of a vehicle accident in the 1700 block of Indian Summer Drive, which is off Pinson Valley Parkway.
When officers got to the scene, they found a blue sedan in the front yard of a home. The sedan was riddled with bullets, turning the case into a shooting investigation.
Authorities then found 28-year-old Arkia Berry of Center Point; her 5-year-old son, Landyn Brooks; and 28-year-old Eric Ashley Jr. from Hoover. All had gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.
Birmingham police at the time said they believed an interaction took place between Berry, Ashley and the suspect’s vehicle.
In February 2025, Birmingham Police, as well as the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force and the State of Alabama Pardons and Parole team, arrested Jacorrian McGregor in the 900 block of Von Dale Lane.
Court records show that on Aug. 7, 2026, a Jefferson County grand jury indicted McGregor on three capital murder charges: capital murder of two or more people, capital murder in a vehicle and capital murder of a victim under the age of 14.
