...Heavy Rainfall and Flash Flooding Likely Through Early Saturday Evening... .An advancing warm front will serve as a focus for heavy rainfall from showers and thunderstorms tonight over much of the area. Tomorrow, showers and thunderstorms will continue in advance of a Pacific cold frontal passage in the afternoon and early evening. Up to 4 more inches of rain will be possible especially along and just south of the I-40 corridor. Ongoing flooding will likely continue across a good portion of the Midsouth through tomorrow. ...FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING... The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of East Arkansas, North Mississippi, Southeast Missouri, and West Tennessee, including the following areas, in East Arkansas, Crittenden, Cross, Lee, Mississippi, Phillips, and St. Francis. In North Mississippi, Alcorn, Benton, Calhoun, Chickasaw, Coahoma, DeSoto, Itawamba, Lafayette, Lee, Marshall, Monroe, Panola, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Quitman, Tallahatchie, Tate, Tippah, Tishomingo, Tunica, Union, and Yalobusha. In Southeast Missouri, Pemiscot. In West Tennessee, Benton, Carroll, Chester, Crockett, Decatur, Dyer, Fayette, Gibson, Hardeman, Hardin, Haywood, Henderson, Henry, Lake, Lauderdale, Madison, McNairy, Obion, Shelby, Tipton, and Weakley.

* Through Saturday evening

* An additional 2 to 4 inches of rainfall is expected across the watch area with isolated higher amounts.

* Street flooding will be a hazard for motorists. Low-lying and poor drainage areas will be at risk for flash flooding, as well as small streams.

NWS Jackson (Central Mississippi)

...ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAINFALL AND FLASH FLOODING IS EXPECTED FOR NORTHERN PORTIONS OF THE ARKLAMISS... .Several rounds of additional heavy rain will fall across the area from this morning through Saturday evening. Given the saturated ground conditions, additional heavy rainfall will easily result in additional flash flooding for much of the watch area. ...FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING... The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of southeast Arkansas, northeast Louisiana and Mississippi, including the following areas in southeast Arkansas, Ashley and Chicot. In northeast Louisiana, East Carroll, Morehouse, Richland and West Carroll. In Mississippi, Attala, Bolivar, Carroll, Choctaw, Clay, Grenada, Holmes, Humphreys, Issaquena, Leflore, Lowndes, Montgomery, Noxubee, Oktibbeha, Sharkey, Sunflower, Washington, Webster, Winston and Yazoo.

* Through Saturday evening

* Additional rainfall amounts of two to three inches are expected, with locally higher amounts of up to 7 inches possible, especially over northern portions of the ArkLaMiss Delta region. This is on top of already saturated ground.

* The flooding of roads, low lying areas, and areas with poor drainage is expected. Road closures and threats to structures will occur in some locations. Area rivers and streams may rise to levels not seen in decades. If encountering flooded roads, remember to turn around, don`t drown and be especially cautious at night.

NWS Jackson (Central Mississippi)

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1115 PM CST FOR HOLMES...CARROLL...GRENADA AND MONTGOMERY COUNTIES... At 740 PM CST, Doppler radar indicated scattered showers producing moderate to heavy rain falling across portions of the warned area. Up to one inch of rain has fallen on already extremely saturated soils over the past few hours. Flash flooding is expected. Some locations that will experience flooding include... Grenada, Winona, Durant, Thornton, Black Hawk, Leflore, Franklin, Jefferson, Tchula, Lexington, Goodman, Pickens, Vaiden, Duck Hill, Kilmichael, North Carrollton, Coxburg, Gore Springs, Teoc and Malmaison. Additional rainfall amounts near one are possible from scattered showers lifting north northeast across the warned area, through late tonight.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

NWS Huntsville (Northern Alabama)

...A Risk of Flash Flooding Continues Across the Tennessee Valley... .Another couple of rounds of showers and thunderstorms tonight and Saturday will bring the potential for moderate to locally heavy rainfall. Given the extremely saturated ground and swollen creeks and rivers, subsequent rounds of heavy rainfall will potentially lead to flash flooding, and exacerbate any lingering areal flooding issues. ...FLASH FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH 12 AM MIDNIGHT SUNDAY... The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* Portions of north Alabama and southern middle Tennessee, including the following areas, in Alabama, Colbert, Cullman, DeKalb, Franklin AL, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marshall, and Morgan. In southern middle Tennessee, Franklin TN, Lincoln, and Moore.

* Through 12 AM Midnight Sunday.

* Showers and a few thunderstorms are expected to redevelop tonight, with locally heavy rainfall possible. A strong cold front will bring another round of showers and thunderstorms across the region Saturday afternoon and evening. Given the already saturated soils, any additional rain will fall as runoff and lead to a continued threat for flash flooding. Additional rainfall amounts of up to 2 inches are possible, especially over northwest Alabama.

* Residents should make preparations now if they live in a flood prone area.
