...Flash Flood Watch in effect through Thursday morning for all of the Mid-South... .Rain, heavy at times, will continue in response to a persistent upper level jet over the area. Abundant moisture over the area will result in rain rates well over an inch per hour. Heavy rain on top of saturated soil will likely result in flash flooding. Additional heavy rain later in the work may result in the need to extend the warning or the issuance of another warning. ...FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT... * Portions of East Arkansas, North Mississippi, Southeast Missouri, and West Tennessee, including the following areas, in East Arkansas, Clay, Craighead, Crittenden, Cross, Greene, Lee, Mississippi, Phillips, Poinsett, and St. Francis. In North Mississippi, Alcorn, Benton, Calhoun, Chickasaw, Coahoma, DeSoto, Itawamba, Lafayette, Lee, Marshall, Monroe, Panola, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Quitman, Tallahatchie, Tate, Tippah, Tishomingo, Tunica, Union, and Yalobusha. In Southeast Missouri, Dunklin and Pemiscot. In West Tennessee, Benton, Carroll, Chester, Crockett, Decatur, Dyer, Fayette, Gibson, Hardeman, Hardin, Haywood, Henderson, Henry, Lake, Lauderdale, Madison, McNairy, Obion, Shelby, Tipton, and Weakley.

* Through late Wednesday night

* 2 to 4 inches of rain is expected across most of the Mid-South.

* Street flooding will be a hazard for travelers. Low-lying and poor drainage areas will be at risk for flash flooding, as well as small streams.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

* Portions of southeast Arkansas, northeast Louisiana and Mississippi, including the following areas in southeast Arkansas, Ashley and Chicot. In northeast Louisiana, East Carroll, Morehouse and West Carroll. In Mississippi, Attala, Bolivar, Carroll, Choctaw, Clay, Grenada, Holmes, Humphreys, Issaquena, Leflore, Lowndes, Montgomery, Noxubee, Oktibbeha, Sharkey, Sunflower, Washington, Webster, Winston and Yazoo.

* Through Wednesday afternoon

* Rainfall of one to three inches with locally higher amounts are expected to fall on partially saturated grounds.

* The flooding of roads, low lying areas, and areas with poor drainage is expected. Water levels on areas rivers and streams will be rising as well. If encountering flooded roads, remember to turn around, don`t drown and be especially cautious at night.
