MHP recorded five traffic deaths during Thanksgiving enforcement period

JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - Expect to see more state troopers on Mississippi’s highways this Thanksgiving.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) begins its holiday enforcement period on Wednesday, Nov. 23 and it ends on Sunday.

Expect to see safety checkpoints.

MHP conducts similar enforcement periods for major holidays, such as Memorial Day.

During the 2021 Thanksgiving period, MHP investigated 195 crashes, five deaths and troopers made 158 DUI arrests.
