A local Lee County community continues to grow economically in the mist of the pandemic

VERONA, Miss. (WTVA) - The city of Verona is building a truck stop from the ground up.

With the population a little over 3,000 the city reported an increase in tax revenue and sales tax. 

The city added several businesses during the pandemic and they are excited to see growth in the community. 

Mayor of Verona Bobby Williams said that they need new businesses because it helps with sales tax and improves the quality of life for the citizens of Verona. 

He said they are hoping the truck stop will be the starting point. 

The truck stop is located on the corner of highway 278 and highway 6.

They are expecting to hold a grand opening very soon.


Aundrea is from Corinth, Mississippi. She is a graduate of Corinth High School, Northeast Mississippi Community College and the University of Tennessee at Martin where she played basketball.
