back to wtva 9 news at six. i'm craig ford. emily leonard is working behind the scenes. columbus city council members will soon meet to approve the proposed budget for the next fiscal year.. wtvas nicole dantzler joins us live with what changes may be coming to columbus.. after two work sessions and much discussion, columbus city council members agreed to make some changes to this year. the biggest difference... the city will not operate in a deficit like it did the past fiscal year. ward 3 councilman charlie box said the mayor's 7 part plan to reverse the almost 900,000 dollar deficit has worked. the plan included hiring and travel freezes. now columbus will step into the next fiscal year in a surplus. box said council members discussed increasing the millage tax rate by a small amount. he also said the police, fire and public works departments will receive an increase in funds to purchase equipment. council members will approve the proposed budget tomorrow (thursday) at 5 pm in city hall. live in columbus nicole dantzler wtva nine news. you might have
