today, heartbreak in local law enforcement. a chickasaw county sheriff's deputy died in a crash early this morning. and investigators are looking into just what happened concerning that accident. w-t-v-a's wayne hereford is live in chickasaw county where the sheriff and others talked about the accident and memory of jeremy voyles. mississippi highway patrol accidient reconstruction investigators were on county road four west of houlka in chickasaw county. voyles was the passenger in the car when it crashed and he died this morning at a tupelo hospital. chickasaw county sheriff james myers said jeremy voyles was assigned to the north mississippi narcotics unit . he and another agent with the bureau were on county road four near houlka when he was killed in a one-vehicle accident. standup.." chickasaw county sheriff jim myers says that voyles was not driving . he was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the accident. by early afternoon, members of the state highway patrol the mhp were on the scene to investigate. the sheriff says that the accident happened about 6:15 tuesday evening. a local responder told me off-camera that everyone did all they could to revive voyles on the scene before he was airlifted by way of helicopter to the tupelo hospital. a processional of vehicles brought voyles ' body back to chickasaw county.
