is planning an expansion. wtvas amanda haley joins us live from the elvis presley birthplace to tell us how it will make things easier for visitors im up here on the overlook at the elvis presley museum, and if you have ever visited.. you know it is quite the trek up here. according to don lewis, chief operations officer in tupelo, the plan is to expand the parking lot giving visitors the option to drive to the top, instead of having to walk. the birth place of elvis presley is a popular attraction for people from all over the world. all to see the spot that the king of rock n roll grew up in. the overlook at the museum represents the land that elvis roamed as a child. it offers visitors a pavillion, several benches and at the very top of the overlook is a statue of elvis as a child..and as a star. according to lewis, the many levels of stairs make the overlook hard to get to for people with disabilities or senior citizens so the new plan is to expand the parking lot and bring it all the way to the top of the overlook. he says the expansion will allow people to drive to the top and will also give large tour groups in buses an easier place to turn around. lewis says the 160,000 project is ready to get started. ah in tupelo, wtva 9 news heat advisories today.... now a
