veterinarian at cloverhaven animal hospital in tupelo. you have been a vet for almost 16 years. as you know kimberly there is a heat advisory in effect... and as you know the intense heat is not just a human problem. but the summer heat also poses a serious problem for animals so how does one protect their animals from the heat. don't let your animal linger on hot surfaces such as asphalt and cement. give your animal a lightweight haircut, provide access to water at all times. restrict exercise when temperatures soar, many dogs enjoy a swim in the pool or run through a sprinkler, never leave your dog in a parked car.
