on the indictment of man for threatening the lee county sheriff. wtvas amanda haley joins us outside the justice court with new information on that indictment. wtvas amanda haley joins us outside the justice court with new information on that indictment. a former sheriffs deputy with lee county now finds himself on the wrong side of the law...again. i got this copy of the indictment earlier today. it says that mike mahew willfully and unlawfully threatened to harm lee countys sheriff jim johnson. according to the indictment, in march, mahew told a witness to send a message to sheriff jim johnson. what mahew said to that witness is on your screen. mahew turned himself in at the lee county sheriff's department on wednesday. according to the mississippi attorney general's office, the threat made by mahew was most likely retaliation of mahew's arrest in 2018. deputies? arrested mahew on 3 counts of submitting fraudulent statements in april of 2018. those charges came after mahew his arrest for falsifying his time sheets for the months of february, march and april of 2017. the sheriffs department fired mahew that year. mahew was booked into jail and released on bond.
