good news for the usa today. as the u-s women's national team are once again world cup champions. the americans defeated the netherlands two-nil earlier today in france. wtva sports anchor andy lee takes us to one local watch party that was swelling with american pride... nat pop of crowd chanting usaworld cup fever reached northeast mississippi on sunday. buffalo wild wings in tupelo opened its doors early to show the womens word cup final between the uswnt and the netherlands. the americans didnt disappoint. the us defeated the dutch 2-nil, and captured their second straight world cup title...the crowd at bdubs erupted when megan rapinoe got the us on the board first with a penalty kick. nat pop of fans cheersing rapinoe's goal but one man in the crowd watched the game differently than most fans. jordon beedle is the director of coaching for the tupelo football club.. beedle was born in england, but made his way to mississippi as an assistant soccer coach at mississippi college. andy: 'what makes this team so dominant?' jordan beedle: 'i think it's the history of women's soccer in the u.s. the face that year on year they keep producing top players, and the teams that they had just learn from the next team.' we all marvel at their skill, but the uswnt has a greater impact on society. lilly donnell: 'a bunch of us, when we grow up, we want to be like them and we want to play like them. knowing that they can make it this far is real inspiring because we think we're gonna be able to make it up there too.' jordan beedle: 'i think they're great role models, especially the state that they're performing on. the level that they play at just feeds into the next generation of soccer players, especially in this area who wanna play soccer and wanna reach that level that they can join a soccer team and hopefully reach the level that these girls are playing on today.' in tupelo, andy lee, wtva 9 news. still more ahead on wtva 9 news on wlov...
