department of corrections has announced it is suspending visitation at three state prisons. this comes after three inmates escaped from a couple of those prisons. here's a map of where those escapes happened. one happened at the mississippi state penitentiary in sunflower county. that's in the delta. two more happened near jackson in rankin county at the central mississippi correctional facility. and those inmates have a local connection. jonathan blankenship was serving a five-year sentence after being convicted in alcorn county of aggravated assault on a police officer and conspiracy to commit a crime. christopher high was serving 12 years after being convicted of burglary and larceny in carroll county. corrections officers noticed around seven this morning they were missing. as for the parchman escape, benny ray blansett has a history of jail escapes. this latest one appears to be his third one. corrections officers noticed before sunrise he was gone. blansett was in for a variety of crimes, including assaulting a police officer. however, the state only considers blankenship and high armed and dangerous.
