"and we went back to the scene, and we found the lady...the young lady with three children. one of the...the child was not breathing." this is the home located off county road 261 that caught fire. briley and his wife, whose also a volunteer firefighter, were the first ones on the scene. "so my wife at the time got the child and handed it over to me and i started cpr." that's when briley said his life saving training kicked in. "you're trying your best to do cpr to get the baby alive. you're not really thinking about nothing else but saving that child and i think that's what we did." earlier this month, the mississippi firefighters association recognized briley's heroism...presen ting him the life saving award'. "i said, wow! this is really awarding. i wasn't expecting nothing because i mean that's our job of saving people." i hoped to reach out to the family of the rescued 7-month-old, but was told a language barrier made it difficult to identify the family.
