firefighters are still investigating the cause of a fire that led to two buildings closing in noxubee county. wtvas nicole dantzler joins us live at the shuqualak noxubee health center to tell us what happened.. im at the health center where as you can see its closed down. on pine street you can still smell the smoke and see some of the damage this fire caused. i spoke with shuqualak town clerk joy morrows and she tells me after lunch yesterday a fire broke out here causing everyone in the building to evacuate. she says the volunteer fire department and the macon fire department responded to the fire and cut a hole through the top of the building to put it out. i also spoke woth david estes with the macon fire department and he says the fire started in the bathroom but hes not sure what caused it. morrow says people at the health center, the post office and town hall were told to evacuate and later closed their businesses until the fire extinguished around three thirty then went home. right now the post office is also closed because it is next to the health center. i reached out to the building owners to see when theyll reopen. live in shuqualak nicole dantzler wtva nine news. at
