a jury dismissed a lawsuit against a local restaurant and security guard for injuries two men received in a brawl. wtvas nicole dantzler joins us to tell us more about the lawsuit and the two men who held a huddle house responsible. this right here is the parking lot at the huddlehouse where two men say they got into a fight and sustained injuries that will they say will last a lifetime. the defendants' attorneys says it was their behavior that provoked the situation and all of this could have been avoided.nio ((take pkg)) "our position from the beginning is that ralph weems created and caused the event that led to the assault." john brady- shareholder at mitchell, mcnutt and sams rt-0:09 john brady was the lead defense attorney for the civil lawsuit. he says on the night of august 22 2014, ralph weems the fourth and david knight went to a waffle house and got involved in a fight. that's when police showed up and told them to leave. "they then went to the huddlehouse restaurant after being told by the police to go home and not go anywhere else." john brady- shareholder at mitchell, mcnutt and sams rt-0:09 weems and knight continued to argue with a man from the waffle house while inside the huddle house restaurant. the security guard told weems and knight to leave the restaurant and once they left, several men assaulted them outside. weems' father then filed a lawsuit against the security guard and huddlehouse for negligence. litco petroleum owned and operated the huddlehouse restaurant back in 2014.
