that was the understanding we got yesterday. the present discomforts is about to begin. wi ll b e back to you now. >> good morning my name is jeffrey cummings i am the chief of police. thank you all for being here on such short notice. the purpose today is to provide as much information to our community as we can. for that reason we will not be accepting questions at this time. we will answer questions will discuss with you but today is saturday. today our heart goes out to the family of dominique lincoln. these the family we thank you for your patience. it was discovered early on that one of our offers matthew beginning a four year officer with the oxford police department we contacted with the mississippi department of investigations. and to provide this is the suspected killer..... the community to make sure it would be independent and unbiased. to our community we know you are hurting. we walked to assure he will not hide behind our batch. this batch stands for truth and justice. and today is about justice for dominique. dominique was a daughter, a mother, a sister, a friend, and a member of our community. and today is about her. we will like to take back the mississippi bureau of investigation, the united states marshals service and every citizen the provided information and assisted us. the bureau of investigation, a division of the highway patrol will now speak on the case. >> thank you, major. good afternoon. i would like to recognize two gentlemen behind me. deputy director of the mississippi bureau of investigation major james herzog. and director of the mississippi bureau of investigations, lieutenant colonel morrison. based on the request of the oxford police department the mississippi bureau of investigation crime scene unit as special agents arrived on scene thursday may 19 and began conducting evidence in regards to a homicide investigation. through the course of the investigation the oxford police department, investigators and special agents required information about that led to the arrest of matthew paul kinney. the mississippi bureau of investigation will continue to work closely with the oxford police department and the district attorney's office as the investigation moves forward. once the investigation is complete all facts and findings will be turned over to the district attorney for review. the oxford police department:in coordinating and providing assistance to mpi with regard to the investigation. due to the fact we are early on in the investigation. any
