debris is still laying along the roads of hamilton after a tornado came through last month. and people are wondering when it will be picked up. wtva's evan hensley spoke with the county road manager and joins us live with what is keeping a community waiting... it was a month ago yesterday when the tornado came through hamitlon. as you can see behind me... debris still remains in the aftermath as the clean up process continues... monroe county has a plan to pick up the debris... but they are waiting for a deceleration from the white house... according to county road manager sonny clay... the disaster declaration from president donald trump would help speed up the process. the plan for the cleanup is for it to kick off at the beginning of june with multiple clean up crews. he says that they may need to take action before the president does... "with in the next 10 days our board of supervisors will have to make a decision on if we want to wait on that deceleration or whether we pull the plug ans award the contracts knowing that we are 99.9 percent sure we are going to get a declaration that contract is for 90 days and clay said that debris cleanup should be completed by then... coming up on wtva 9 news at 6... hear from a homeowner who was here the night of the tornado on how the past month has been. reporting live in hamilton he wtva 9 news.
