what started out as a plan to help one family affected by hurricane katrina is now a three-story building housing a 60 thousand square foot warehouse to help with national disaster relief 13 years later. all about ." " we were birthed here so we're going to stay here." the national headquarters for eight days of hope is in it final stages of building. and according to founder steve tybor it all started with his dad and the idea to do a good deed. "when we started the organization in 2005, it was to be a one time trip with my dad and i and a couple friends. that was 40000 people later, that was many years ago we didn't have this dream." tybor tells me the organization now has thousands of volunteers from every state and 11 countries. and this new building is meant to keep that number growing. "this room here is going to be out national training center. volunteers will come from around the country, they will be sitting in this room, and they'll learn how to lead eight days of hope." according to tybor eight days of hope has helped build homes for over five thousand families with the help of volunteers. he also says the warehouse will hold all of the supplies for disaster relief including free gifts for those in need. "we have mattresses, insolation, roofing products, appliances. if a chruch has a need in its church or in the community and they want to love on someone. if we have it they can have it for free." he says even though its hard work its all about serving a higher power for a bigger purpose.
