been 4 days since parts of monroe county were hit by a tornado. since then, the mississippi highway patrol has been assisting with law enforcement in the area wtva's evan hensley joins us live from hamilton with how they are keeping the peace according to the mhp public information officer derrick beckham, the state troopers have been in communities like this for a few days now beckham said that it is all about assisting with the storm recovery... been great that way." donna sanderson - monroe county ema director "the mhp troopers are here to enforce the curfew and to protect the property that these people have left. they are could not have gotten as far as e have without mhp." troopers have also been blocking off roads for electrical workers and policing the area these troopers are a part of a special operations group which focuses on communities devastated by disaster... todd demuth - mema state liaison officer "mississippians by nature will not leave their property's. so this is just an augmentation of the local law enforcement effort to make sure that these people are protects." donna sanderson says there is over a dozen troopers throughout the communtiy making sure everything goes through smoothly one trooper told me that they will be leaving the scene tomorrow morning residents in the community told me that this event has allowed the community to rally together... brandy nevins - hamilton resident "it's been heartbreaking for most but just to know that we are being there for them and we can help them, it's been great that way." on friday, the base of operations for mema will be moving their base from the cities community center to the abundant life pentecostal church if you are looking to help volunteer your time or still are in need of assistance you are encouraged to reach out there reporting live in
