pursuit. they say all good things must come to an end. and after thirteen successful seasons as icc's women's basketball coach, nanci gray is retiring. the houlka native played at itawamba back when it was itawamba junior college in the 1970s. gray spent seventeen years as a high school coach at houlka, bruce and tupelo. gray then returned to icc and led the lady indians to seven north division titles, two state championships, and three region 23 titles, which led to three national tournament appearances. and with her retirement, gray literally passed the baton this morning to her assistant, robin porter, who's been promoted to head coach. porter joined gray's staff in 2010. she's a native of abbeville, alabama, where she was player of the year in that state. porter and gray have proven to be quite a team over this decade. gray: "when we started getting some of the trophies out, and i'm like, i can't even remember some of these wins, because you just do the job because you love the job, and you love the kids that you're coaching." porter: "she's such a truly woman of god, she pours into you so much, it's just been a blessing, a true role model in my life." gray: "oh, i was blessed, we never had any time of animosity or any time of argument or anything, it was just a really smooth ride, and i thank god for it." robin porter
