us live from oxford with more. its a technology known as "neighbors by ring" and the oxford police have been using it for awhile with good results. i spoke with major jeff mccutcheon of the oxford police department who says the "ring" system is basically a "digital neighborhood watch program" for residents. it provides real-time crime and safety alerts from both neighbors and local law enforcement by way of a small camera that fits inside of a doorbell. the major says that the ring program connects all of the participating door-bell ring cameras. they can then provide instant information to the police and other subscribers. "its a digital neighborhood watch. and its a way where if you live in an area and you have a ring camera, you can set up a geo-fence for your neighborhood, for your homeowners association .and just in that area you can keep everyone up to date with what's going on." mccutcheon says that the police department can communicate with everyone in the city that uses the program. there is a price tag with the system but its available through the oxford police department just visit their twitter or facebook account and follow the available link. reporting live in oxford i'mwayne herefordwtva nine news.
