severe weather authority forecast... but first...wtva's wayne hereford is live in iuka with new informationconcerning that sunday standoffbetween law enforcement and a man who officers say opened fired on them at his home. iuka police chief randy stringer says that donald wayne bullard, who is around fiftty years old, is the man accused of firing shots at officers outside while inside a house on spruce street sunday. they got a call about him around 6:30 sunday morning. the chief tells us bullard uttered vulgarities and went back into the house and stayed there. officers tried coaxing him out with a p.a. system for about six to eight hours, even using friends. but he says bullard eventually started shooting through the walls. the highway patrol swat team was called in and was able to subdue bullard without harm to anyone. "this is not our first encounter with him. we have dealt with him for three or four years . we presented him to two grand juries prior to this that i know of on some weapons charges and for some reason they declined to indict him." we did speak with one relative of bullard's who told us that he is a military veteran and suffers from p-t-s-d. he is being held in lafayette county and faces misdeameanor and felony charges in iuka as well as potential federal charges. reporting live in iuka i'm wayne hereford wtva nine news.
