warning local businesses of someone who has been making calls and asking for donations. wtva's evan hensley joins us live with what he has learned... thank you, i spoke with robert byers who works with the school district over the phone earlier today and he told me that they have received at least 6 calls from businesses claiming that this happened to them.. one of the schools that may be effected is here at saltillo high school here is a tweet that was sent out by the district earlier this afternoon it says that the district will never ask a business for a donation over the phone a spokesperson told me that the calls have all came in within the last week byers says that the caller has been claiming to be with the district and exchange for the donation, the business will receive advertising on items such as cups... i spoke with a former student of one of the schools who says that something needs to be done... andrew wren - shannon :11 lcsdfraud021519sot5 "like i said before it has to be a legit cause if they are just doing it for scam purposes if they are doing it just to take money and take away from the schools something needs to be done about that." if you have received this call you are being urged to report it to the school districts central office this has already been reported to the lee county sheriffs office. reporting live in saltillo, eh wtva 9
