high school fast-pitch softball season is almost here. severalschools are hosting preseason jamborees this weekend. but three area players are already in midseason form after participating in a big tournament in europe. too." jim: " annslee basham of mooreville, paige kilgore of houston, and emily coggin of east union recently represented the united states in the international softball cup in amsterdam, and it was a faster pace of softball than they're used to - indoors against adults." emily: "it was very exciting to be able to play for the united states, and to be able to play against athletes that will come over in 2020 and play our olympic teams." paige: "their average was from 26 up, their age, and we were averaging about 16 year olds playing." annslee: "it was very different. the balls would bounce like a tennis ball, but pitching was the same and throwing was the same, and the bases were shorter." jim: "their trip also included a stop in paris. their favorite meal? mcdonald's, of course!" emily: "oh yes, mcdonald's was the best over there, no doubt, that was like the only thing we could understand what it was." annslee: "a kids meal there is like, 13 euros, which is 15, 16 dollars, but the crapes were really good, you can literally put anything in them, you could just have them off the streets. they were good." jim: "the trio says the team didn't do very well in the tournament, but that really wasn't the point of the trip." paige: "it was fun to experience it with them, and people that you know, and it was also fun to make new friends and experience it with
