this week the temperatures outside have been a little warmer than usual. unfortunately some students temperatures have also been a little warmer this week, causing school officials at the tupelo christian preparatory schools to close a day early. wtvas erin wilson is there now with the details. due to the flu and flu like symptoms walking the halls of tupelo preparatory schools i was told students will have athree dayweekend giving their bodies a little time to recover and reboot. "if they have a temperature of101 they are sent home." although many of the students did not have that problem, they will all be able to ignore their alarm clocks come friday morning. "closing the school gives us the opportunity to reboot. it will allow children who are beginning to have symptoms to be separated from other children." i spoke with the school nurse mary walden and asked about the process she goes through when taking care of sick children in school. "when a child come to the nurse's office the firstthingwe do is check their temperature and then ask them how they are feeling. if their complaining with a head ache or if they have achiness." with the number of sick students reaching about 20 percent this week in tupelo christian preparatory schools she also gave parents tips on what to look out for. "you consider temperature, generalized muscle aches, feeling more fatigued. they could have stomach symptoms nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, sneezing, and without the flu test you really can't distinguish it from something else. with an extra day allowed for self care, the school is hoping they won't have many children visiting the nurse's office come monday. as we stated before not all 20 percent of children had the flu some only had flu like symptoms. the school is taking tomorrow to make sure all students are able to learn in a clean environment when they return. reporting live in belden erin wilson wtva 9 news. meanwhile, two other school districts will be closed tomorrow. both north and south tippah school districts said they will be closed all day tomorrow. according to the south tippah school district's website, the closure is due to illness in the schools. it's unclear at this time if illness is the reason for north tippah's closure.
