mutiple law enforcment agencies in the area are now saying to keep your ey out for scams that have been going on int both lee and monroe counties our own evan hensley now joins us with what scams are going on thank you, both the lee county sheriff and shannon police departments have came out and said that people are calling residents in the area, claming to be members of these law enforcment agencies they are also saying that a warrant is out for their arrest unless that give them money the agencies are saying that these are fake and to report them if they do take place another scam going on in the past few days is here in monroe county this is where a 70 year old woman recieved a check for 90,000 dollars in the mail... sheriff cecil cantrell - monroe county "basically what they were trying to get her to do is take this check an deposit it in her account. keep 9,000 of it and send them the rest." the sheriff says that the check from winapeg canada, and looked legit the woman then took it down to a social security office in columbus to see if she could cash it thats when the notified cantrell of the scam...
