high school'sgirls basketball team has won three consecutive state championships. the lady falcons are working on trying to win another gold ball. one of their leaders this season is senior forward lauren thompson, who's actually been playing varsity since the seventh grade. thompson will be playing basketball beyond high school. she signed this morning with mississippi college. thompson is averaging fifteen and a half points and nearly six rebounds per game. she's also second in the state in three pointers made and leads the state in charges taken. but thompson says what she does off the court matters more. and at m-c,thompson plans to major in pre-med. thompson: "the most important thing for me is getting a good education, because basketball is not forever, so that's what attracted me most about it, and then, of course, they have a great program over there, and i'm excited to just see what we can do." adair: "very smart lady, she's intelligent, she's funny, has a good personality, all these kids are enjoyable to be around, so she fits right in with all of them, she's a very good kid." south
