first this evening, we continue to follow a story out of lee county. one teenager is facing charges aftera woman was hit and killed while walking in tupelo last month. wtva's rebecca butcher spoke with the suspect's lawyer and joins us live with reaction. it was last month when a 42-year-old woman was hit by a car...dying on north gloster street. i spoke with the suspect's lawyer on the circumstances of theaccident..and he's calling it alltragic, but bizarre. " ithink it's devastating for the community. i situation like that you feel bad for both sides. the deceased and the other on. both sides are going to feel ornate no matter what." 19-year-old tyler jernigan...turned himself in to policeyesterday is now charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death. ...a female victim, who is identified as brandi oliver was walking on north green street. police tell us the 42-year-old victim was hit by acar...that night the driver says it was rainy heavily. his lawyer, tony farese tells me the driver thought he hit a deer on december 20th and reported the damage to his relatives. once the news broke, his grandfather contacted him concerned his incident was connected. "everyone has to be careful. you have to drive for yourself and you have to drive for other people to." the victim, oliver, if from birmingham, alabama, according to authorities. jernigan's lawyers says no broken downcar was seen nearby. the suspect has bailed out on his ten thousand dollar bond. his case will go before a grand jury. we're live in tupelo, rebecca butcher wtva nine news. at , matt's here
