resolution that will give parts of ole miss's campus resort- area status this could lead to the serving of beer at events wtva's evan hensley joins us live with more... thank you this change will allow the university to sell and distibute beer at non-athletic related events at select venues across campus. the locations include vaught hemingway stadium, the pavillion and other venues... a university spokesperson said in a statement: " . resort status will allow the university to expand its appeal to tourists, vacationists and others from around the state and region by bringing a broader range of cultural and recreational events and performances to campus resulting in even more people visiting oxford and lafayette county. i spoke with students on camus today and many were in support of these changes to on- campus policy some students hope that the changes will go even further... "the fact that they are not going to do it for sporting events is kind of like they are going halfway with it. but i guess it is a good start." others say that serving at sporting events still would be challenging "i think you gotta take that slow because i think athletic events are going to be very different because you are going to have a wider range of people there." students think that the changes will increase the attendence from outsiders... "you have the square so close so you are definitely going to have campus a lot more appealing so everyone wants to drink so everyone wants to go the square all the time." and in a statement from the board of trustees, they said that they are in support of the school when it comes to the ecenomic development of the oxford and the university of mississippi reporting live in oxford, eh wtva 9 news the columbus police department
