back in 2017. harper's body has been transported to the medical examiner's office where an autopsy will be performed. a six-year old monroe county boy is fighting for his life this evening at the north mississippi medical center after being accidentally shot by his sister. the shooting happened on clay hill road in nettleton just off of highway 371. wtva's wayne hereford has more from monroe county ." we're gonna need a lot of prayers for the young man. maybe everything will work out in a good positive manner for the young man" in fact, the sherif showed us the gun that he says the boy and his sister were fighting over when the weapon discharged. now he says the mother said she did not know where the gun came from and that she had never seen it before. the sheriff says its possible the gun could have come from a truck outside the home where there was a lot of different items in the yard. he says the gun is very old and not traceable by way of a serial number, so there's no telling where it came from. he says the six -year old boy and his ten year old sister had a tussle over the 22 caliber rifle. "what we found out was that he was six years old and his ten- year old sister, were fighting over or playing with a gun you might say. a twenty-two rifle and the gun went off and shot the little boy in the head. and he's in very serious condition."
