two-years-old francie kate foote is a ball of energy... and if you meet her...you wouldn't be able to tell that she hardly spoke for the first 20- months-of her life... in tonight's celebration of hope...wtva's daniella oropeza show us how those at the rehabilitation center helped her find her voice... way more than when we first started." foote / francie kate'smother) tupelo, lee county) (nat sound) this is francie kate foote and she receives speech therapy services from the regional rehabilitation center... "when she first started there was some frustration she wasn't really saying much of anything." kamme riddle is francie kate's speech and language therapist... she says francie kate's frustration came from herself...family...getting her needs met... riddle says when francie kate started at 20-months she had about a six month delay... "her delay was pretty much exclusively expressive language. everything else was fine. um. she just wasn't talking." "she wasn't talking very much at all at first. maybe mama and daddy, bubba." having grown up in tupelo...amelia foote says she knew of the regional rehabilitation center...she even had otherfamily members receive some of their services... but ultimately...she says it was through their early intervention program that introduced her family and francie kate to the regional rehabilitation center... "through that program you have to have a 33% delay in one area to qualify for therapy." and with her six-month delay...francie kate qualified for speech therapy services... "she has done so good in therapy. she is always ready to jump down here and play." riddle says each session starts with francie kate greeting her in the lobby... (nat sound) "and runs back here and i kind of let her usually lead the session as far as choosing what she wants to do." as you can see...riddle let's francie kate lead by choosing what toys...books...ga mes she wants to play...
