meteorologistalan matthew for a closer look at the severe weather authority forecast this morning we are starting off with temperatures that have quickly dropped off overnight into the upper and middle 40s and a few spots have even raced into the lower 40s this morning. as such, a frost advisory has been issued this morning for tippah, alcorn, tishomingo, union, prentiss, itawamba, lee and lafayette counties and will remain in effect until 9 am. this quick drop off in temperature has led to the potential for isolated patches of frost. the better and most widespread threat of frost is focused further to our north, but an isolated spot or two right along or just south of the tennessee border could see some frost development by around daybreak.all this said, temperatures have stayed slightly higher than they could have due to steady winds out of the north at 5 to 15 mph and also some thin middle and upper-level cloud coverage streaming in from the west. still, it is a morning where you will want to add an extra layer or two and dress warmly. keep in mind, however, as you plan your attire that we will warm into the upper 50s to lower 60s by this afternoon with plenty of sunshine and a steady but softening northerly breeze. your monday morning will start just a chilly if not slightly moreso as winds will be soft and skies are anticipated to remain mostly clear. this will help us to drop off a few additional degrees during the overnight period. if you have highly sensitive plants make sure that you take care of them frost could be a slightly more widespread issue. we will see most of the temperatures drop off down into the middle 30s to upper 30s. i would not be surprised to see a few of the normally colder spots even drop off down to near freezing. so please take the proper precautions due to this being the first big drop of the season into that category. we will see our temperatures get milder during most of our upcoming work week. high pressure will be the main influence in our weather forecast for most of the upcoming week. however, a little bit of low pressure may move through our area on our remember you can always keep up with the forecast anytime
