Parents charged with child neglect in Lowndes County

Two people are accused of not providing proper medical care to their child. Lowndes County Sheriff Mike Arledge says on October 12, a seven-week-old infant was admitted to Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, diagnosed with a broken femur bone.

first this evening, we continue to follow a story of two people arrested at the columbus air force base for child abuse. one of those arrested was a student pilot. wtva's evan hensley joins us live in lowndes countywith what we know. second lieutenant carrissa vaccaro and jordan cox were arrested yesterdayfor the neglect of their child. the address released by the lowndes county sheriffs office says that the 2 lived across the street from me at the columbus air force base... according to the base, vaccaro is a student pilot at the base who is awaiting pilot training the child was admitted to baptist memorial hospital here in columbus on october 12th, and later transported to the university of mississippi medical center the following day. the initial diagnoses was a brokenfemur, but the sheriffs office says that multiple other injuries were in healing stages that were discovered these injuries were determined to be caused by another person one resident says that she'd even be willing to take care of the child "but i would take it and take care of it and make sure nobody hurt it. "i can't see, they don't ask to be born into this world." "this is going on a lot more then people thinks. if they just get out and look around, go to the malls, especially walmart, you see women smacking their kids in the face ." the base issued a statement saying that vacarro is innocent until proven guilty in this case. more charges could rise as the investigation develops reporting live in columbus, eh wtva 9 news at
