morningat the american furniture manufactoring plant in pontotoc... and firefighters are still tirelessly working to put them out... this same plant went up in flames in january of last year.... a total of 20 fire departments responded and 90 firemen worked for 6 hours to contain the flames... and temporarily left hundreds of workers without a job.. wtva's gracyn ashmore is live at the scene and spoke with the county fire coordinator this afternoon... thanks shante, as you can see behind me the scene is devasting for american furniture... the fire has been contained to the manufacturing building, only smoke affecting the company offices...and no damage to the warehouse... destruction overtakes an american furniture building early this morning...luckily with no one inside... firefighters from pontotoc, union and lee county working tirelessly to put out the flames after the 5:45 a.m. call...claiming the fire covered an estimated 50 thousand square feet... and the cause? still unknown. investigating the fire are the ponotoc county sheriffs department, the a-t-f and the state fire marshal's office...and could take at least a week... the goal of the firefighters now is to put out the remaining hotspots and then let officials begin their investigation... although for the american furniture company, this building is unsalvable... "it's a complete loss for this building. from one end to the other, it's a complete loss. we spoke with the owners, anditspretty wella complete loss. we were able to save two other buildings here on site that were inclose proximity." we are reaching out to the president of the american furniture company and hope to give you the plan going forward for the company and its employees... reporting in pontotoc county, gracyn ashmore, wtva 9 news...
