tonight... with a number of items on the agenda... wtva's emily leonard is here with a closer look... emily? daniella... we have several things to talk about tonight. first... tupelo's go cup ordinance is nearing the end of its six month trial. during a work session today, the tupelo city council heard from police and local businesses about how the trial period went. police chief bart aguirre says during the time period his department paid $36,000 to have an officer on patrol seven hours each night. he says they didn't see any major incidents and made five arrests for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct. downtown businesses say they didn't have any problems with unruly people and trash was not a problem. the city council is expected to consider whether to make the go cup permanent at an upcoming meeting also tonight a tupelo business developer is looking to add a second hotel to a proposed development on north gloster street. a request was made to re-zone some of the property in a development area known as pinnacle point. its an area across from the texas roadhouse restaurant.. beside community bank. the development would include senior living units, assisted living, cottages along with a retail center and restaurants. one hotel is already in the plans, but the developer approached the city about making the change to allow for a second hotel. city council members will review the request and vote at a later date. back to you another
