summer is (slowly) returning more sunshine on tuesday help the temperatures to reach the lower 80s and with even more sunshine around, wednesday will continue our steady march toward a more summer-like end to the work week. wednesday should see more sunshine return cloud but with a continuation of the northerly breezes, as a result, temperatures should remain a little below what we expect for this time year with lows in the mid 60s and high temperatures reaching the middle 80s by afternoon. by thursday, more sunshine pushes in and lower 70s to start with upper 80s by afternoon. both wednesday and thursday should be much more dry than wet though the rain chance should be greater than zero. i'm placing a slightly better chance on thursday possibly reaching 20% coverage for the extreme southern portion of the area. friday through the extended forecast temperatures will start in the lower 70s or upper 60s with high temperatures reaching the lower 90s or upper 80s by afternoon. the entire extended forecast looks dry but that is subject to change because florence, which is a strong hurricane in the atlantic ocean, remains our single biggest factor through the extended forecast. most indications keep the precipitation part of the storm system well to our east, but as it draws air into it, it will keep northerly breezes around. this flow pattern which keeps drawing in air from the north, which is relatively dry, will allow greater flexibility to keep those high temperature is pushing into the lower 90s through the extended forecast and keep rain chance is limited as moisture from the gulf of mexico should stay shoved down in the gulf. if i were to argue for a slightly greater rain chance from florence, i'd be looking toward monday of next week but at this point that seems like an extreme outlier in comparison to most solutions that
