happy thursday! thebulk of our rain chances for thursday should hold off until after lunch. we'll still see a mix of sun and clouds. so temperatures climb into the lower 90s with heat index values into the upper 90s and lower 100s. by the mid-afternoon, spotty showers and storms will develop. a few of those northwest of the natchez trace parkway could be on the strong to severe side. the main threats will be damaging wind, torrential rain and frequent lightning. storms should dissipate around sunset, leaving us partly cloudy and mild overnight. but a few isolated showers and storms may re-develop sometime during the night. so it's possible that we begin our friday with a few isolated storms as well. these should be a bit weaker. but as we head into friday afternoon, there is still some potential for additional strong to severe storms, similar to the ones we see today. the areas most likely to be impacted friday will be along and north of us 82. this potential continues even into the late evening and overnight. we'll continue these enhanced chances of showers and storms into saturday. as we do, temperatures will be a little cooler each day. highs on friday only reach about 90 while saturday and sunday appear to bring highs in the upper 80s. sunday's rain chances may subside some, but not by much. a few may even linger into monday as well. highs will still be in the upper 80s. but after this series of storms, we should begin to dry out by mid-week. in fact, not only should we dry out and see more sunshine. there's also some potentail for much cooler temperatures with less humidity. by wednesday morning, we could see temperatures in the upper 60s and lower 70s followed by highs in the mid-80s. we'll keep our fingers crossed, as this forecast could change. so don't get your hopes up just yet. it's still technically summer. for more details, visit wtva.com and download the wtva weather authority app. remember you can always keep up with the forecast
