presley. the eupora eagles are one of those teams that always seem to be in the playoffs. and since they're in a four-team division, they're guaranteed to make the postseason again. but the eagles have the potential to fly higher than that, as in winning the division and going deeper in the playoffs. 39 players are on head coach stephen edwards' roster, and nine of them are seniors. eupora has seven starters back on offense, and seven back on defense. the eagles played j.z. george in a jamboree and open the season fridayat water valley. supposed to be." edwin herard, eupora senior quarterback: "the main goal that everybody needs to have is to win state, but we want to win a division title." preston perkins, eupora senior fullback: "we haven't been division champs since 2012 or 13, derrick jones' senior year, and i haven't made it past the first round of the playoffs. we've gotta be a family, last year, we weren't as a family like we're supposed to be, this year, i think we're gonna be as a family, like we're supposed to be." tishomingo county will have a new look this season. the braves have new decals on their helmets. the team dealt with change in 2017 as well. in the middle last season, jim mccay was named interim head coach. the "interim" title was eventually removed, and even thoughmccay isstarting his first full season leading the program, it's his fifth year on the staff. the braves have 56 players on the roster, 12 of them seniors. they're led by tayvius duckett, who rushed for more than a thousand yards last season. most of the skill players are back, led by receiver alex cornelison. linebacker cameron cummings leads the defense. the braves host alcorn central on thursday. tayvius duckett, tishomingo county senior running back: "coach cay, i've been knowing him for a while, he's pretty much like family, our relationship's good, so practice runs smoothly, everything goes smooth, and it makes everything a whole lot better." alex cornelison, tishomingo county receiver: "we're starting to build a little chemistry together, we kind of know what to expect, and we all believe in each other
