deserved cat food... mississippi state wide receiver reggie todd was arrested tuesday in oktibbeha county on one count of simple assault. todd turned himself in at the oktibbeha county jail as a result of warrants issued in the case. according to theoktibbhea county sheriff's department, the incident in question took place early sunday morning in starkville. todd was originally investigated for aggravated assault after allegedly striking another man at a party. detectives determined simple assault was the appropriate charge. he was released on a 1,000 dollar bond. a court date has been set for july 10th in theoktibbeha county justice court. the 21 year old red-shirt sophomore from mobile had 12 catches for 128 yards in 2017. todd's best game came against arkansas where he had 3 catches for 50 yards, including this 37 yard td that tied the game at 21. the bulldogs went on to beat the razorbacks 28-21. msu head coach joe moorhead released a statement this afternoon. moorhead says, 'we are aware of the incident involving reggie todd. reggie has been suspended indefinitely from all team activities. we will have no further comment on this matter at this time.' some better news for the msu football team. noxubee county wide receiver kyziah pruitt has committed to the bulldogs. pruitt made the announcement on social media. the rising senior has nearly 2,500 receiving yards and 27 touchdowns in his high school career. pruitt helped lead the tigers to the 2017 4a state championship. the mississippi state baseball team left for omaha this afternoon. wtva's evan hensley was in starkville as the omadawgs boarded their bus. i can report the bulldogs arrived safely in omaha. this morning, msu interim skipper gary henderson was named the perfect game/rawlings coach of the year. henderson took over for andy cannizaro on february 21st and led the diamond dawgs to a 37-24 record and 10th trip to the college world series. after a slow start, the bulldogs are 23-12 since april 1st... the post season accolades continue for ole miss closer parker caracci. caracci was named a 2nd team all american by d1baseball.com and an honorable mention all-american by perfect game. caracci earned 10 saves this season. no surprise here. today,former iccpitcher bailie springfield earned a spot on the njcaa d2 softball all- american second team... in 2018, the southern miss signee won 20 games and carried a 1.54 era with 123 strikeouts... offensively, the east webster product hit .296 with 21 rbi and 2 home runs... new ncaa legislation will ease transfer restrictions on student athletes. beginning in october, d1 athletes will have the ability to transfer to a different school without asking their current school for permission. the new system allows a student to inform his or her current school of a desire to transfer. the school then has two business days to enter the student's name in a national transfer database. once the student's name is in the database, other coaches are free to contact that individual. there is a caveat.. individual conferences can still restrict athletes from transferring within the league. in addition, the d1 council decided d-1 football players can play up to four games in a season without losing a year of eligibility.
