is back in mississippi. the web.com tour is making its first visit in the magnolia state. the country club of oxford is hosting the north mississippi classic this weekend. round one is underway. a big crowd gathers on the first tee to watch ole miss junior braden thornberry begin his tournament... thornberry stripes one off the first tee... former ole miss golfer ben wolcott was paired with thornberry... it was an up and down round for the reigning ncaa champion... this is thornberry's approach to the 18th hole from a fairway bunker....he finds the green but is a long way for the pin... thornberry drains his par putt to finish with a three over 75... former msu golfer chad ramey of fulton shot even par.... conner godsey and sebastian munoz share the overnight lead atfive under par... two groups didn't finish their first round.... afterward, wtva's andy lee samples this reaction.... braden thornberry: "i was playing pretty good, but here and there, i'd just have a bad swing that would cost me two or three shots, and i think i had two triples and a double, and managed to shoot three-over, so, kept myself in it, good round tomorrow, make the cut, and try to move up." sebastian munoz (tied for first round lead (-5)): 'i think my driver played a key part, also, i like putting on bermuda greens, my putter was good today. made a couple more than i expected to so that was fun. a new course is always a challenge, especially since it's been hit by bad weather. it's a little more of a challenge, but taking it one day at a time.'
