and the potential for winter weather is expected to come through our area.. the mississippi department of transportation is preparing for road work. wtvas symone woolridge joins us live to tell us how. mdot actually started preparing for ice and snow.. yesterday.. theyve put their equipment on their trucks and have them all ready to go. based off of weather conditions forecasted.. workers will start monitoring the weather.. for crews go out..they will place salt on the roads.. and bridges if and when temperatures drop below freezing.mdot says there are 16 counties in our district.. and there may be 5-8 employees monitoring the roads.some counties were out earlier today patching pot holes in high traffic areas to eliminate potential problems we may see tomorrow. with the chance for snow and even the rain we have now.. mdot says it expects bridges to be slippery. sot: "of course it depends on how fast the freezing weather comes in depends on how fast the bridges freeze so we're just trying to monitor. we know as the temperatures drop below freezing to start watching for that ice on the bridges."
