we can say it's just plain cold.... when can we expect temperatures to warm up? the rest of the afternoon will be dry and we will continue to warm thanks to clear skies, dry air and a good supply of sunshine. most if not all of us should briefly get above freezing. as mentioned previously for some location this will be the first time above 32 in 2018. the warm-up has not officially begun however, because we are tracking our next incoming front approaching from the northwest. this front is pushing it's way to the southwest between a now split area of high pressure. the front will make it's way southward bring reinforcing cold air into northeast mississippi during the overnight hours. the front is being aided by a developing nor'easter off the florida coastline. this system will undergo rapid cyclogenesis "bomb-out" over th next 24 to 48 hours. for us that means a front that otherwise would not stand a good chance of making it this far south or dropping temperatures will manage to peel us back into the upper and middle-teens out the door on wednesday morning. winds will also pick up heading into thursday morning leading to a return of wind chills in the lower-teens and even single digits once again. the official warming-trend will begin as we head into friday, saturday and sunday. temperatures will climb first into the lower-40s and then finally return to the lower-50s by the end of the week. tight
