death. it's the counties first cold related death in this arctic blast. wlov's symone woolridge joins us live to explain what happened. this is definitely not something you hear every day.. kerry merritt of tupelowas pronounced dead in the emergency room of north mississippi medical center. sadly... she was found lying on her front porch. 45 year old kerry merritt was found deadjust before noon this morning. it happened at her home on this road... in the 800 block of central avenue in tupelo. "suffered from known medical problems but was found unresponsive on her porch." she was found lying there around 9amss .... and officials don't know just how long she was there before the y got the emergency call. the coroner tells me merritt had known health problems but of course this was vesry sudden. "due to her core temperature being so low we feel like that is a contributing factor to her death." and that's why the county advises people to check on neighbors and loved ones. "this lady was not elderly.. so check on any of your relatives or friends that have known health problems to make sure they have adequate provisions in this cold weather." the coroner also tells me the cold related deaths are also rare here.. she normally sees more heat related deaths. so something like this.. is very concerning. reporting live in tupelo sw wtva nine news. some frozen pipes
