WASHINGTON (WTVA) — Mississippi U.S. Senator Roger Wicker responded to questions Monday about President Donald Trump claiming victory in the 2020 election and blocking transition efforts for the incoming administration of President-elect Joe Biden.
A producer with NBC News asked the Republican senator on Monday if he takes issue with the president tweeting that he won the election.
He also commented on whether the former vice president should get national security briefings.
"It's reasonable for the vice president to be given security briefings," said the senator from Tupelo. "I don't see any harm at all."
The president-elect had stronger criticism Monday of the president blocking briefings on national security as well as plans for a coronavirus vaccine.
"More people may die if we don't coordinate," said the Democrat during a news conference in Delaware.
