JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - The Mississippi State Department of Health reported 7,249 more COVID cases and 56 more deaths during the three-day period of Aug. 20-22.
That's an average of 2,416 cases per day.
Forty-three deaths occurred between August 12-22 in Adams, Calhoun, Clay (2), Covington, Desoto, Forrest (3), Grenada, Hancock, Harrison (4), Hinds (4), Itawamba, Jefferson Davis (2), Lafayette, Lamar (3), Lauderdale (2), Lowndes, Marion, Monroe, Pearl River, Pike, Pontotoc (2), Rankin (2), Tishomingo (2), Union, Warren, Wayne and Winston counties.
Thirteen deaths happened between Aug. 6-16, identified from death certificates, in Copiah, Hinds, Lamar, Lauderdale, Leflore, Madison, Neshoba, Perry, Pike, Sunflower, Union (2) and Warren counties.
Since the onset of the pandemic in March 2020, the MSDH has reported 413,498 total cases and 8,047 total deaths.
